A proposed submission experience that brings opportunities, pitch materials and progress tracking into one place.
The challenge
A finished script is only the beginning.
Early-career screenwriters may have a story ready but lack a route to producers. The published research themes included limited connections, presentation anxiety, trust and the need for useful feedback after rejection.
Wright explores a direct submission experience for budding screenwriters. It was created as academic design-methodology work; the production companies shown in its screens are illustrative, not verified partners.
01 · Structure
Different opportunities need different submission paths.
Temporary portals represent calls with specific requirements such as genre and budget. Permanent portals let writers approach a company when they believe their work fits its interests.
The proposed journey covers onboarding, eligibility, submission, evaluation and feedback. Information architecture and task flows helped connect searching for an opportunity with preparing the right material.
02 · Design
Make the pitch and its progress visible.
Submission brings together a logline, synopsis and video pitch. Video provides another way for writers to express their ideas without relying solely on a live presentation.
The concept includes eligibility review, submission status, script views and improvement reports. These states address the uncertainty after sending a pitch: what happened, where is it, and what can I do next?
Outcome & reflection
Trust needs more than an interface.
The deliverable includes research and journey artifacts, visual identity, interface designs and a Figma prototype. There is no launched marketplace or established review operation behind the concept.
The experience explores clearer communication and feedback. It does not establish legal protection for scripts or guarantee access to production companies. Real-world validation would need both writers and the people evaluating their submissions.
